Trick or Treat?

Tips for a safer trick or treating night

There are lots of things that we as parents can do to make it safe for our children no matter what age they are.
• Many costumes are dark so have your child wear glow sticks so they stand out to
vehicles on the road.
* Carry a flashlight and use it. It may sound odd to say use it but many times
pedestrians are hit during Halloween and were carrying a flashlight and didn’t
feel necessary to turn it on.
• Reflective tape is a great way for vehicles to see you. If your older children
think its not cool. Then put it on there trick or treat bag.
• Always walk up to the door with your children. Only walk up to doors that are lit
up.
• NEVER trick or treat alone or allow children to go to unknown areas.
• Always use crosswalks and stay on the sidewalks
• REMEMBER, children are excited to be out on Halloween and are not paying attention
to traffic or others. Be their eyes and ears for them.
• Do not allow children to have any candy from their bag until you have inspected
it. A suggestion might be to bring a small bag of candy from home to give to them
while you are walking the neighborhood.
• If your child gets fruit such as an apple wait until you go home and slice it to
make sure there is nothing in it like a razor blade.
HAVE A HAPPY AND SAFE HALLOWEEN FROM OUR FAMILY TO YOURS!!!!!!!

IS YOUR EX OVER STEPPING?

You are following the rules that the courts have set but you have this feeling that your ex is not. As you drop your child off for their visit your ex begins to act different and enforce your doubts. You say your good-byes to your child and walk to your car. You get in the car having this gut feeling that something is wrong. You sit in your car for a few more minutes debating to go get your child and violate the court order or you try and convince yourself you’re over reacting and he will be fine. National Intelligence group has seen this situation too often; with our experience your gut is correct.

We had a client that this happen to recently. The courts set a court order where the children were to be dropped off on Friday at 6pm and picked up at noon on Sunday. The order also stated that the father was not to drink twelve hours before obtaining the children and continue until the children were returned to their mother. Our client had this feeling that he was drinking during the visit, so she hired us to investigate her ex. We specialize in child custody cases so we recommended that three day surveillance from sunrise to lights out would be efficient for her situation. This is to make sure we don’t miss him leaving the residence and monitoring him threw out the day to see if he purchases or consumes alcohol at any time. We started this case at 6am at his residence. We monitored him throughout the morning and around lunch time he stopped at a local bar. We obtained video of him entering the bar, but to obtain that money shot for our client we entered the bar undercover using our cell phone spy cam. The investigator obtained photos of the ex husband drinking beers. After six beers and an hour later he leaves the bar and proceeds to his vehicle. The Investigator leaves out the back door to jump in his vehicle before the husband and obtain video of his driving. The husband returns home and a few hours later he leaves the residence to pick up his children. The investigator follows the husband and once again obtains video of his driving. The husband picks up the children and returns home for the rest of the evening. Even though we have obtained what the client wants we continue with the surveillance to obtain as much video of him as possible.

The next day we obtained video of the ex husband taking the children on a morning cruise and purchasing a beer from the concession stand on the ship. He then poured the beer into a red cup and repeated this three more times through out the cruise. The weekend continued with different situations arising where he would drink with the children present. After the weekend was over the investigator took his evidence and placed it into a report and made a DVD for the client to turn over to her attorney. We later learned that the courts modified the visits to mandatory rehab and supervised visits. The case will be reviewed by the court again after he completes his rehab and having one year of supervised visits.
